Letters to the Editor

We desperately need public funding of elections. Right now, big money can (and does!) buy elections. Our so-called elected officials don't even need common people anymore.

I support public funding of elections; it seems to be working well in Maine and Arizona. Recent comments by assorted business organizations in our state decrying the bitter tone of politics and in support of a nonpartisan Legislature would be amusing if it weren't for the power these same entities wield in their advertising dollars and in financial support of the most ethically challenged candidates.
